So I was sick with Strep Throat this last weekend while visiting my Mom. She not only got to play Nurse for me (Thanks Mom!) but she also got to witness my little monster first hand.
He didn't want to get his pull-up changed when he woke up (but was very wet) and I didn't want him to get everything wet (and for his health of course) so I insisted. The sleepy little sweetie went and was quickly replaced by the monster. Kicking, screaming, hitting- you name it he was doing it. I did take off the sopping pull-up and replaced it with a nice clean and dry one if only temporary.
Mom could not believe how he was behaving. She obviously thought I had exaggerated his behavior. She told me to go relax, that I didn't need to deal with his behavior. She would take care of him. Oh boy. I went into the living room trying to ignore his screams and cries.
The little guy continued his tantrum for about a half an hour total - throwing his blankie out to us (each time a little closer to us), took off the dry pull-up, peed on the floor and then came to me saying he was sorry and still sobbing.
We talked about his behavior and why it wasn't acceptable, etc. Then Mom saw the urine on the floor and let Little Monster know she was upset about it. He felt bad. I think it was the first time Grandma had really scolded him, and good.
And although I was frustrated it happened, I was glad someone else witnessed it. I felt like I wasn't the worst Mommy in the world.

Mom goes insane due to bedtime problems
This will be a headline soon I fear. Tonight was a new typical bedtime routine that I despise. Over two hours trying to get my son to bed, and he's still not sleeping. I've tried nice cuddling Mommy giving warnings of impending bedtime and reading books, I've tried mad Mommy, sad/angry/threatening/understanding/patient Mommy and none have worked. I do not want to be any of the negative Mommy types, but I don't know what to do so I'm frustrated Mommy with an awake 2 1/2 YO at 10:30 at night.
Oh, and ge had a tough day at daycare and no nap.

Aarrrggg Me Matey
My son has been obsessed with trains and Thomas the Train for about a year now. I can name many of the trains from Thomas, but not like he can. He is finally moving onto other interests, namely Jake and the Neverland Pirates. And, I have to say that I'm kinda glad. I csn change out an engineer hat for a pirates skull rag thingee. Ok, I might need to learn the lingo.

I think my 2 1/2 year old is sucking out my brains
Some days I get to work and wonder if I have any brain power left after the morning rush.
Put your coat on please, yes you need a coat...that's upside-down. No, you can't wear your slippers... OK I guess you can, I'll just carry you to the car and into daycare. You need to leave your boots on in the car, when we get to daycare you can take them off. Now you want me to cover your feet with your blankie (after boots are off)?
All before my first cup of coffee.
